Mining solutions provider MBE Minerals South Africa’s Pneuflot technology has attracted worldwide attention since its launch in 2012, says company MD Johannes Kottman, adding that Pneuflot is already surpassing conventional flotation technology in terms of popularity.

Pneuflot, a pneumatic flotation technology, introduces conditioned and aerated pulp to the flotation cell through its patented aerator and is said to improve product quality and recovery and to increase efficiency at a lower operating cost.

Kottman further highlights that MBE plans to showcase its complete range of technical solutions at the 2015 BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA conference and trade exhibition, which takes place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from September 15 to 18.

The company’s Batac jig technology, used to process coal and iron-ore, has been proven through extensive testing to deliver higher efficiency and throughput rates. Kottman notes that the product’s separation accuracy, relatively small footprint and low capital cost make it both economically and environmentally beneficial.

He further highlights MBE’s RomJig, a moveable sieve jig, which MBE describes as a reliable and economical solution for destoning coal. Kottman explains that less refuse in the washery feed means reduced wear on machinery and transporting equipment, as well as less degradation, dust and slurry.

Meanwhile, MBE’s Jones wet high-intensity magnetic separator (Whims), used to process weakly magnetic minerals from nonmagnetic particles, offers high throughput capability and lower energy consumption. Significantly, the company recently completed the largest Whims plant outside Brazil, which is located in the Northern Cape.

Moreover, MBE’s Permos medium-intensity magnetic separator drum-type unit is suitable for materials that can be attracted by a field strength of between 2 000 and 5 000 gauss. The company offers designs for both wet and dry feeding.

Suitable for wet and dry grinding, which can be carried out at excess or negative pressure, MBE’s Palla vibrating mill’s main attribute is its flexibility. The unit is capable of either intermittent or continuous operation. It can grind more than a hundred different materials, including a range of minerals and commodities previously considered unviable.

Finally, the company’s vibrating screens, which come in single- or double-deck configurations with circular or linear motion, are up to 3.6 m wide and 6.75 m long. Used across Africa, primarily in coal, diamond and iron-ore mines, they are capable of accommodating all screening needs.
