Project Description
The project involves the upgrade and capacity increase of Tetra Pak’s packaging material factory. The upgrade will allow for an increase in local content to 80% production capacity, enabling Tetra Pak to extend its reach to serve more customers in the Southern Africa region.

The new packaging technology will produce less carbon dioxide emissions, as it requires less energy and water for processing, and use alternative, green sources of electricity.

It will also allow for the production of the latest packaging formats using state-of-the-art technology.

Potential Job Creation
The expansion will create many direct and indirect job opportunities through suppliers in the region.

Capital Expenditure
R500-million.

Planned Start/End Date
The upgrade will span several years, with construction starting in the first quarter of 2022.
