The retail price of all grades of petrol will increase by 41c a litre from next Wednesday, the energy department said on Friday.

Diesel with 0.05% sulphur would go up by 17.8c a litre wholesale, and diesel with 0.005% sulphur by 17.8c a litre.

The wholesale price of Illuminating paraffin would go up by 26c a litre, and the Single Maximum National Retail Price (SMNRP) would rise by 34c a litre.

The maximum retail price for LP GAS would go up by 73c a kilogram.

The department said that during the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin had increased.

The average rand/US dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous period and this increased the contribution to the basic fuels price on petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin.

Petrol 95 ULP would cost R12.27, and 93 ULP and LRP R12.06 a litre in Gauteng.

Diesel 0.05% would cost R11.29 and diesel 0.005% R11.33 a litre in Gauteng.
