Pacifico adds to Sorby Hills
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Base metals developer Pacifico Minerals has reported an increase in the mineral resource estimate for its Sorby Hills project, in Western Australia, on the back of a successful drilling programme.
Pacifico on Thursday reported a 20% increase in the global resource estimate at Sorby Hills, which now stood at 36-million tonnes, grading 4.7% lead equivalent, and 0.5% zinc equivalent.
The company reported a 53% increase in the total indicated resource, which now stood at 16.6-million tonnes, and a 63% increase in the indicated resource estimate for the Omega deposit, as well as a 165% increase in the indicated resource estimate for the B deposit.
“We’re thrilled to announce a very significant update of the mineral resource estimate for the Sorby Hills lead/silver/zinc project, on the back of our second highly successful drilling programme,” said Pacifico MD Simon Noon.
He noted that the boost to indicated resources from the 6 000 m infill drill programme was "exceptional".
“The main objective was to grow and increase confidence in the mineral resource to underpin an increase in the mining rate and test the grade assumptions to be modelled in the upcoming optimised prefeasibility study. This mineral resource update has done precisely that and more.”
A previously completed prefeasibility study into the Sorby Hills project estimated that it could produce some 249 000 t of lead and 9.35-million ounces of silver a year over an eight-year mine life, with a capital investment of A$95.4-million required.
