Oseberg Vestflanken 2 oil and gas project, Norway
Name and Location
Oseberg Vestflanken 2 oil and gas project, North Sea, Norway.
Client
The licensees are Statoil, as operator (with 49.3%), Petoro (33.6%), Total (14.7%) and ConocoPhillips (2.4%).
Project Description
The project involves the development of Oseberg Vestflanken 2, which comprises the Alpha, Gamma and Kappa oil and gas structures.
They are located about 8 km north-west of the Oseberg field centre.
Oseberg Vestflanken 2 is the first of three planned phases for developing the remaining reserves in the Oseberg area.
The development will consist of an unmanned wellhead platform with ten well slots. The wells will be remote-controlled from the Oseberg field centre.
Two existing subsea wells will also be reused.
The platform will be installed in the Norwegian part of the North Sea at a water depth of up to 110 m and about 8 km north-west of the Oseberg field centre. The 900 t topside will measure 25 m × 23 m × 20 m and will weigh 900 t.
The jacket will be 138 m high, with a foot-print of 36 m × 36 m, and weigh 4 400 t. The jacket is equipped with suction buckets instead of piles. The well stream will be routed to the Oseberg field centre through a new pipeline.
The field development will provide 110-million barrels of oil equivalent and will be profitable even in a low-oil-price scenario.
