JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) on Tuesday said the latest wage offer by the coal mining companies was now being presented to its members.

The NUM on Friday announced that it would postpone its planned strike in the coal sector, as some coal companies had decided to table a new offer to NUM members.

This new offer was presented to the union on Monday.

“We are not in a position to accept or reject the offer . . . [we] will reconvene again Wednesday where the NUM will report back on the mandate gathered from its members,” the union said in a statement.
