Project Description
The proposed 730 km, 1 400 MW NSN project will be the first electricity interconnector between Norway and the UK. It will be the world’s longest subsea power cable.

The interconnector will be built from Blyth, in Northumberland, UK, to Kvilldal, in Rogaland, Norway.

There will be a converter station on each side, where the interconnector is connected to the onshore grid.

Value
The cost of the project is estimated at €1.5-billion to €2-billion, which will to be shared jointly by the project partners.

Duration
The interconnector is planned to be completed by 2021.

Latest Developments
Statnett and National Grid have signed the ownership agreement that signals the start of the construction phase of the NSN interconnector project.
