Canadian firm Nouveau Monde Graphite has appointed SD Capital Advisory (SDCA) and GKB Ventures (GKB) as joint financial advisers to assist it with the structuring and arranging of project financing for the Matawinie graphite project, in Quebec.

The company says it will focus on accessing international debt finance through export credit agencies, which is a secure, lower cost form of long-term capital.

“With the commencement of construction activities at our Matawinie property, we have a clear roadmap to building, commissioning and delivering what is projected to be the largest North American graphite operation. SDCA and GKB will help further refine our project financing parameters and assist us to gain access to international debt finance, a strategic step in developing a sound capital structure that supports our long-term growth,” says Nouveau Monde president and CEO Eric Desaulniers.

The Matawinie mine is set to be the Western world’s largest graphite mine. It is authorised to produce 100 000 t/y of graphite material.
