Project Description
The Indian government in Punjab’s Department of Science, Technology, Environment and Non-Conventional Energy Sources has issued a New and Renewable Sources of Energy Policy – 2012, to promote and develop new and renewable sources of energy and to promote energy conservation measures/efficiency in the state of Punjab.
This entails the establishment, maintenance and operation of 300 MW of solar PV power plants in the state under Phase 1.
Of the 300 MW, 50 MW will be realised through power plants with a minimum capacity of 1 MW and a maximum capacity of 4 MW, while 250 MW will be realised through power plants, with a minimum capacity of 5 MW and a maximum capacity of 30 MW. The power generated by these plants will be bought by the State-run power utility Punjab State Power Corporation.
