The new GWS 26-230 LVI Professional is the lightest large angle grinder in its class and reduces vibration by 40% owing to its decoupled main and side handles and vibration dampening, compared with angle grinders without vibration control, states technology and services supplier Bosch.

There is a large variety of angle grinders to choose from on the market and the most important factors in choosing the right grinder are the disc size, how powerful the motor is, its weight and vibration. This new model from Bosch, designed for professionals, excels in all these categories and it has numerous in-built safety features, says the company.

The GWS 26-230 LVI Professional large angle grinder, with a 230 mm disc, is designed for tough cutting and grinding applications. It is the perfect tool for civil engineers, ship or vehicle builders and can be used in metalworking and construction, as well as emergency rescues, says Bosch.

The tool is designed to be as light and comfortable to work with as possible and, as a result, it reduces fatigue on the user. Without sacrificing power, the angle grinder has a powerful 2 600 W motor and it is more than 10% lighter than its predecessor. The motor is 25% shorter than the previous model and 25% more efficient.

It is easier and safer to handle owing to its softgrip bow handle, which Bosch notes can be rotated 90º to the left and 90º to the right, especially when cutting mate- rials. The tool’s extensive safety features include a kick-back stop that immediately shuts down the machine if it jams, an antirotation protective guard that protects the user if the disc breaks and a safety mecha- nism that prevents the machine from automatically restarting after a power cut.

The GWS 26-230 LVI Professional also has a soft start and a slotted-drive-system quick-locking nut, for quick and easy accessory changes. Bosch offers a range of grinding, sanding and cutting discs, with the company’s diamond cutting discs are recommended for extremely fast and accurate cutting.

The GWS 26-230 LVI Professional angle grinder comes complete with an auxiliary handle, protective guard and clamping system, and is available at specialist retail outlets.
