Net foreign reserves rise to $55.31bn in December

South Africa's net foreign reserves rose to $55.31-billion in December from $55.16-billion in November, the Reserve Bank said on Friday.

Gross reserves edged lower to $57.59-billion in December from $57.62-billion in November.

The forward position, which represents the central bank's unsettled or swap transactions, fell to $3.40-billion from $3.65-billion.
