Telecommunications giant MTN has appointed Stephen van Coller as VP of strategy and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), effective October 1.

“As the head of strategy and M&A, we are confident that Stephen's experience will be instrumental in helping the group realise its ambitions and commitments,” MTN announced on Monday.

The company would soon also announce the appointment a deputy head of M&A.

Further, CFO Brett Goschen has resigned, effective September 30 to pursue other interests.

Gunter Engling would assume the position of acting group CFO on Goschen’s departure until a permanent CFO was appointed.

The group last week announced the appointment of Rob Shuter as group president and CEO.

He would assume the new role by no later than July 1, 2017, as he wrapped up his current obligations as the CEO of Vodafone Group Europe.
