PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Metro Mining on Wednesday reported an 11.7-million-tonne direct shipping ore (DSO) indicated resource for its BH2 deposit, in Cape York.

The BH2 deposit brought Metro’s total DSO bauxite resource in the Cape York region to 65.3-million tonnes.

The resource had been previously regarded as suitable to produce a beneficiated product, and had been reported as such. However, Metro said on Wednesday that quality results had confirmed that the DSO product was suitable for export with 37.4% available alumina and 6.7% reactive silica at 150 °C.

The BH2 deposit is located 10 km south of the Bauxite Hills project, and on the north bank of Port Musgrave estuary.
