Exploration and development company Medallion Metals has made significant progress toward securing key environmental and mining approvals for the development of its Ravensthorpe gold project (RGP), which will inject much-needed investment into the region.

The company is also advancing its strategy to process sulphide ore from the RGP through the Cosmic Boy processing plant at Forrestania. Medallion is currently in exclusive negotiations to acquire Cosmic Boy and its associated infrastructure from IGO, with discussions continuing to make headway.

“Advancing primary approvals is a critical path activity as Medallion derisks the proposed development of the high-grade sulphide component of the RGP,” said Medallion MD Paul Bennett.

“The reduced disturbance footprint at Ravensthorpe and the potential redeployment of the established infrastructure at Forrestania combine to significantly enhance the environmental credentials of the development.”

Using an established processing facility, such as Cosmic Boy, offers commercial and environmental advantages.

Bennett stated that favourable permitting outcomes for the proposed development had the potential to enable rapid execution of the sulphide production strategy benefitting all stakeholders.

“New investment in Ravensthorpe will benefit the region given the recent setbacks to other operations in the area,” Bennett said.
