TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Quebec-based Maudore Minerals on Friday announced that its subsidiary Aurbec Mines has entered into a custom-milling agreement to treat ore from gold miner Abcourt Mines' Elder mine at Aurbec’s Sleeping Giant mill.

The Elder mine is located near Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, and the ore would be trucked to Aurbec's mill, about 80 km north of Amos, Quebec. The six-month agreement could be extended if both parties agreed to do so.

Aurbec has applied for environmental permits and authorisations to store and process the Elder mineralised material at Sleeping Giant and a certificate of authorisation is expected soon, after which ore shipments will start.

Maudore acquired the Sleeping Giant gold mill and adjacent tailings facility through the acquisition of a subsidiary of North American Palladium for $18-million in cash and 1.5-million common shares in March.
