Manufacturing of electric vehicles and related components in Botswana

The Government of Botswana, through the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) invites local and international companies, with track record and relevant experience to express their interest in manufacturing the Electric Vehicles (EVs) and related components in Botswana. This EOI aims to develop the local electromobility industry to contribute towards reducing Greenhouse gas emissions and contributing towards Botswana’s other developmental objectives towards Industry.

Government intends to partner with a company that will manufacture EVs and related components in Botswana to supply locally manufactured EVs for the local and regional markets.

The EOI should reach the above address not later than 12th May 2022 at 1600 hours (Botswana time)

  • Submission received after the above deadline will not be considered.
  • Expression of Interest from companies failing to provide the required information will be disregarded. 
  • Invitation to bid and any subsequent purchase order will be issued in accordance with procurement rules and procedures of Botswana Government.

Right to Cancel

MITI reserves the right to cancel the project even after selection of the preferred partner. The Government shall not be liable for loss of profits, damages or consequential losses upon cancellation of the project neither shall it be responsible for any costs whatsoever incurred by the Contractor prior to the signature of contract and commencement of works.
