The State-owned Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) has invited bids from eligible bidders for the supply, installation and commissioning of an automated meter reading system, including the meters.

The project will be financed by the World Bank’s International Development Association as part of Malawi’s $85-million Energy Sector Support Project.

“The bidding process will be conducted through international competitive bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank guidelines for the procurement of goods, works and nonconsulting services, and is open to all bidders as defined in the procurement guidelines,” said Escom’s procurement specialist Jack Thabwa.

The deadline for the submission of bids was June 26.
Escom is undertaking several projects under the Energy Sector Support Project aimed at increasing the utility’s efficiency and capacity to serve the country’s growing power market.
