Makabingui gold project, Senegal
Name of the Project
Makabingui gold project.
Location
Senegal.
Project Owner/s
Bassari Resources.
Project Description
A newly developed startup plan for the Makabingui project has been announced in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The new plan has been developed because a full-scale mining and production startup is not possible at this stage, owing to Covid-19 restrictions.
The goal is to start mining in the Pit 2 area, which has a reduced strip ratio.
The grade within the location has been nominally specified, presenting an opportunity to recover about 2 200 oz of gold.
An initial target of 70 000 t, increasing to 140 000 t of ore and waste material, is forecast to be mined from two benches over a three-month period.
The waste material will be used in the preparation and construction of the mining infrastructure, such as haul roads and a waste dump run-of-mine (RoM) pad, where suitable materials exist. This is considered to be important construction work before the planned startup of the full-scale mining plan.
The extracted ore will be stockpiled on the newly constructed RoM pad pending final crushing to <50 mm, ready for transport to the tertiary crushers and final processing.
