South African owned and operated energy services company LTM Energy, has won the prestigious Energy Project of the Year International Award 2021, from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

The award, presented on 20 October, was given in recognition of LTM’s outstanding accomplishments for its Lighting up Africa project, together with various case studies, demonstrating the significant potential of scalable energy savings in Africa which in-turn, can help to reduce global carbon emissions. This recognition is the cherry on the top for LTM Energy who’ve won four awards in 2021 and three international awards in 2020.

Dhevan Pillay, LTM Energy CEO, says, “This award is a testament to the goals and vision for LTM Energy in developing sustainable energy management solutions in Africa and acknowledges the hard work, talent and commitment of our team. We are especially grateful to our valued clients for affording us the opportunity to partner with them on their environmental sustainability journey. It is indeed most rewarding that LTM Energy’s efforts are helping to secure a greener future for our country and has been recognised internationally.”

AAE’s International Awards Program identifies those who exemplify the very best in their fields presenting these awards annually to individuals and organisations who have achieved national and international prominence in implementing the practices and principles of energy engineering and management. Founded in 1977, the AEE is a non-profit professional society of over 18,000 members in more than 100 countries. The AEE awards have been dubbed The Oscars of the energy sector, renowned as the highest international accolade in the energy industry.

LTM Energy was also honoured with several notable awards in 2021 including Energy Service Company (ESCO) of the Year; Commercial Energy Project of the Year; Energy Professional of the Year as well as Company of the Year for their outstanding contribution to the Energy Industry.

Pieter Brand, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, says, “LTM Energy is always embarking on innovation and working together with other people in the industry. Sometimes we even work with our competitors because we truly believe that a “rising tide will lift all ships”. For that reason, we wish to encourage the people of our country to join us in this quest for a greener South Africa as we continue to rollout energy and water-efficient projects.”

LTM Energy will continue to make a positive impact on climate change demonstrating the importance of a holistic view in new developments while taking into consideration the importance of upskilling the local community, growing SMMEs and delivering commendable resource savings.
