Longford gas conditioning plant (LGCP) project, Victoria, Australia.

Client
Gippsland Basin Joint Venture, comprising BHP Billiton and Esso Australia Resources, each with a 50% interest.

Project Description
The LGCP will add carbon dioxide (CO2) removal capacity to the Longford gas plant, which is necessary to condition production from the Kipper Tuna Turrum offshore development project. The plant is designed to process an estimated 400-million standard cubic feet of gas a day and will reduce the CO2 content of treated gas to less than 3%.

Value
BHP Billiton’s share is pegged at $520-million and Esso Australia’s share at A$500-million.

Duration
Construction of the plant is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2013, subject to appropriate regulatory approvals. The facility is expected to be operational in 2016.

Latest Developments
BHP Billiton announced investment approval for the project, as part of the Gippsland Basin Joint Venture, in December 2012.
