State-owned power utility Eskom’s nationwide load shedding over the weekend has hit telecommunications group Telkom’s services, with some core network elements being lost, depending on the duration of the outage.

The company said in an update to customers that it was doing “all it can” to maintain services “under these trying circumstances”.

“The company understands the great inconvenience disconnection of its services brings to its customers and will, therefore, be on high alert during this period, mobilising all available technicians to work additional hours,” Telkom Network Centre Operations managing executive Marna Wilden said.
