JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The area covered by ASX-listed Lithium Australia’s exploration licence more than doubled after three additional licences were granted for the Greenbushes area.

The company on Wednesday said that the new licences now provided access to much of the targeted structural trend from Donnybrook to Bridgetown Shear.

Greenbushes was home to a lithium mine, around 200 km south of Perth, in Western Australia, that currently produced about 40% of global lithium supply from pegmatites.

“The grant of the three new licences will enable Lithium Australia to gain a more complete picture of the geological systems that have created the world’s largest known lithium pegmatite,” said Lithium Australia MD Adrian Griffin.

“The potential of the area is outstanding and we will use our experience to evaluate that potential in an effort to unlock the latent value of the area,” he added.
