Pan-African telecoms group Liquid Telecom has rebranded, recalibrated and repositioned as pan-African technology group Liquid Intelligent Technologies (LIT), with ambitions of expanding its services offerings across the African continent.

With several sub-brands, namely Liquid Cloud; Cyber Security; Satellite; Sea; Networks; Business; Innovation; and Home, the company is adopting a multipronged approach to deliver enhanced services directly to its customers as a one-stop-shop technology group.

“We are having to reinvent ourselves and provide new services to our customers every few years,” said LIT group CEO Nic Rudnick.

“We started almost 20 years ago as a satellite company and since then have built Africa’s largest fibre network. The next progression to that of a technology company is something that comes naturally and has been part of the evolution and growth path we have been working on for more than ten years.”

The next stage of the group’s journey, using the combined infrastructure of its network, data centres and relationships with cloud providers such as Microsoft, is to bring the power of the cloud, cybersecurity and new technologies, in addition to its existing telecoms and connectivity capability, directly into the hands of its customers.

“Our ongoing investment in our networks and data centres across Africa have uniquely positioned us to use our infrastructure to accelerate the availability of new intelligent technologies, including the high computing power of the cloud, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to our customers,” Rudnick highlighted.

“We are now excited to be executing our vision of bringing new technological opportunities to the market with a highly differentiated product set supported by our existing infrastructure and digital innovation.”

He pointed out that it was not only about connectivity, it was about the power and resources that connectivity brings.

Over the past 15 years, LIT has built the most extensive single fibre network on the continent, extending from the south to the north, dubbed “Cape to Cairo”.

LIT continues to expand its network in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its build-outs in Nigeria, as well as expanding its network across an east-to-west route from Sudan to Dakar, concludes group COO Ahmad Mohkles.
