VANCOUVER (miningweekly.com) – Canadian vanadium producer Largo Resources is again setting new production records at its Maracás Menchen mine, in Bahia, Brazil.

After production was marginally lower than expected, owing to instrumentation issues with the deammoniator in the beginning of the month, output has bounced back to a new September record of 806 t vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) – 5 t more than the previous record set in June.

"Largo continues to be focused on achieving consistent production at or above nameplate capacity at the Maracás Menchen mine. Steady and record-breaking production, coupled with Largo's ability to produce vanadium at a low cost, shows the company's dedication to the success of the Maracás Menchen mine," stated president and CEO Mark Smith on Monday.

V2O5 prices have risen more than 45% so far this year to a mid-price point of about $3.85/lb, according to data provided by Metal Bulletin.
