Project Description
The 2 011 ha Konza Techno City will be a sustainable, world-class technology hub.

The project will be completed in four phases.

The first phase will include the first section of the technology park, a section of the central business district (CBD) and a residential area.

Phase 2 will include a university and further development of the technopark, CBD and residential area.

Phase 3 will encompass the further development of the technopark and residential district, the completion of the CBD and the construction of the science park.

Phase 4 will involve the completion of the technopark, science park and residential area.

Value
Phase 1 infrastructure is estimated at $1-billion and development costs at $1.3-billion, of which $200-million is allocated to the techno park, $125-million to the CBD and $975-million to the residential areas.

Phase 2 costs include $400-million for infrastructure, $1.3-billion for development, $300 million for the techno park, $100 million for the business district, $850 million for the residential area and $50 million for the university.

An estimated $1.5-billion has been allocated to Phase 3 development costs, including $400 million to further develop the techno park and $700-million to develop the residential area. About $300-million will be used to complete the CBD, while $100-million will be used to develop the science park. Infrastructure costs for this phase are estimated at $600-million.

Infrastructure costs for Phase 4 are estimated at $150 million, while development costs are estimated at $800-million, which includes $450-million for the techno park, $250-million for the residential area and $100-million for the science park.

Duration
Construction is set to begin before Christmas 2013.

Phase 1 is expected to take five years to complete, Phase 2 – 6 to 10 years, Phase 3 – 11 to 15 years and Phase 4 –16 to 20 years.
