Project Description
The project will cater to the BPCL-KR’s demand for industrial gases, such as hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen, at its integrated refinery expansion project.

This will increase BPCL-KR’s crude refining capacity from 190 000 bbl/d to 310 000 bbl/d and produce clean transportation fuels to meet EuroIV/V specifications.

The plant will feature the latest technology advancements to maximise energy efficiency and minimise emissions, and will include optimal heat integration, which, in turn, lowers feedstock consumption during production.

Air Products has awarded a contract to Technip to provide project management and engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the new industrial complex.

The project is being built on a build, own, operate (BOO) basis and includes:
• two trains of hydrogen production units (based on steam methane reforming), of about 91 000 Nm3/hr capacity;
• an air-separation unit to produce nitrogen and oxygen;
• steam generation and export to BPCL’s manufacturing process;
• a gas turbine to produce power for the facility; and
• other utilities required for the BOO facility.

The contract will be managed by Technip’s operating centre, in Delhi, India, as well as Technip, in The Netherlands.
