TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Nevada-focused miner Klondex Mines over the weekend reported a death at its recently acquired Midas mine.

The company reported on Friday that an employee was found unconscious and unresponsive in a working underground heading.

Emergency response was immediately dispatched, and the employee was transported to the hospital for advanced care where hospital staff pronounced him deceased.

The company has notified the regulatory agencies, and an investigation has been initiated.

On Tuesday, the company had not yet issued a statement on the cause of the incident.

President and CEO Paul Huet said that the company was “working closely with the regulators and the authorities to determine the cause of the incident”.
