Project Description
The Klixbüll onshore wind project is located close to the North Sea coast, near the Danish border, in the Nordfriesland region.
The site already has six turbines in operation, two of which are community-owned. The project involves the installation of eight modern 3-MW-capacity wind turbines with direct drive technology.
The turbines will each have a rotor diameter of 113 m and will not only double the existing capacity but also provide technological features that will increase the facility’s profitability. The turbines will contribute to generating energy even during low wind speed conditions, as a result of a ‘reactive power at no wind’ option, which turns the turbines into a phase shifting VAR compensator, solving a technical problem in the alternating current voltage grid. The new wind turbines will expand the plant’s installed capacity from 15 MW up to 39 MW.
