The bridge will be located at the corner of Fuschia and Foxglove roads in Klipspruit, in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

Client
Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA).

Project Description
The project entails the construction of a pedestrian bridge over railway tracks in Klipspruit.

The construction aims to address the unsafe and illegal crossing of residents over the railway line, owing to the absence of alternative crossing or underground tunnel. The bridge will be built using reinforced concrete.

Potential Job Creation
The project will employ local labourers, as well as small, medium and micro-sized enterprises as part of government’s Expanded Public Works Programme.

A special condition has been included as part of the construction to accommodate persons with special needs, visual, as well as temporary or permanent physical impairments.

Value
R20-million.

Duration
The project is expected to take 12 months to complete.
