PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Kingsrose Mining will implement a series of measures at its Way Linggo gold project, in Indonesia, with the aim of improving development rates, recovering remnant pillars to boost short-term production, and ensuring suitable mine planning and production systems are place.

The company told shareholders on Tuesday that independent consultants Mining Plus would focus on three key areas over the next 12 months to improve production at the greater Talang Santo operation.

A strong focus is being placed on the vertical development of the external haulage shaft, as the life-of-mine plan identified this as the most critical development location to unlock additional working areas and drive future production.

Changes to the management of water in the external haulage shaft are also being implemented to improve the vertical advance rate, while a trial has been designed to rest the increased use of mechanisation in the development cycle, with a focus on improving bogging productivity rates.

Mining Plus will also implement a new labour management method on site involving shift changes, to directly increase the amount of time on the job and improve efficiencies.

Kingsrose executive chairperson John Morris said that the latest report from Mining Plus provided further evidence that the true value of the Talang Santo mine could be unlocked by investigating alternate mining methods.

“It is early days in this process, and production for the September quarter remains low, but we are already beginning to see some benefits of the new approach at a working level,” Morris said.

“The emphasis is now on implementing the new mining methods, developing the vertical shaft, further improving the water management systems and training our people.”
