SINGAPORE - Kenya is seeking nearly 500 000 t of oil products for delivery over February to April, about 13% more than its last round of purchases, traders said on Monday.

The country's importers are looking for 126 221 t of jet fuel, 137 075 t of gasoline and 236 065 t of 500 ppm sulphur gasoil.

The tender closes on January 22 and is valid until January 23.

Kenya, which relies on imported fuel, last bought more than 440 000 t of oil products and 160 000 t of Murban crude for delivery over December to January.

In its latest tender, the country's gasoil requirements have gone up by nearly 25%, likely due to seasonal changes.

Kenya's economy is highly dependent on gasoil for transport, power production and farming, while many homes use kerosene for lighting and cooking.

Kenya's energy regulator said last week that it had cut retail fuel prices for petrol diesel and kerosene after the cost of crude oil fell marginally on international markets.
