Project Description
The Kankou Moussa refinery will be one of the most technologically advanced in the world. It will be built in the free trade zone close to the Bamako Sénou International Airport and will include an air logistics centre dedicated to the mining sector.

Initial reports have said that the refinery will have a capacity of 20 t/m of ore; however, this could be expanded to more than 50 t/m, including other metals such as silver and platinum.

The plant will not only refine production originating from Mali, but also that of all African producers wishing to obtain a quality of 999.9 London Bullion Market Association certified.

Value
The project is estimated at $71-million.

Duration
The project is expected to be completed by mid-2015.

Latest Developments
Swiss Bullion is in talks with the Mali government for it to take a stake of up to 45% in the refinery.

On Budget and on Time?
The refinery had originally been expected to start production in November 2013.
