Project Description
The Kamran mill currently has a capacity of 100 000 t/y and processes carbon steel billets with a square cross section of 100 mm × 100 mm. The finished products are rebars with diameters of 9.5 mm to 40 mm. The plan is to modernise the rebar mill in three phases.

Phase 1 aims to increase rebar production capacity to 150 000 t/y, increase yield, reduce energy consumption and improve rolling efficiency. After modernisation, 130 mm × 130 mm billets with a maximum length of 3 m will be used and the rebar mill will be capable of rolling up to 30 t/h of steel bar.

The equipment installed in Phase 1 will be used for future Phase 3 requirements of 250 000 t/y.

Latest Developments
Kamran Steel has placed an order with Primetals Technologies to modernise the rebar mill. Primetals Technologies will be responsible for engineering the plant and will supply the required process equipment, electrics and automation.

The mechanical supply includes revamping the reheating furnace run-out roller way to allow for direct billet transfer to the new continuous roughing train.

The rolling line comprises a new eight-stand roughing mill and a new six-stand intermediate mill, both in-line with the existing finishing mill to eliminate cobbles. Both mills will be equipped with fifth-generation red ring stands.

The scope of supply also includes hot cropping and emergency shears, a pinch roll and a hot dividing shear in front of the cooling bed, which will be followed by a cold dividing shear.
