The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) on Wednesday advised motorists travelling along the M2 to use alternative routes, as the agency starts a R30-million rehabilitation project on the Kaseme bridge section of the M2 motorway, which will affect the M2 eastbound, the M2 westbound and the Mooi street offramp.

The rehabilitation project will include repairs to bridge joints, bearings, corbel and replacement of guardrails, stolen road furniture and concrete works.

The JRA stressed that the fast lane on the M2 eastbound would remain closed provisionally for the next six months.

The agency recommended that motorists, during the rehabilitation works, move to slow lanes, travel at safe following distances and reduced speed, and be wary of construction workers.
