Project Description
The project involves the construction of two hydrostations with a combined 48 MW capacity. The two power stations – one on the Jiji river and the other on the Mulembwe river – will be located about 5 km apart. On the Jiji river, plans are to build a 13.5-m-high concrete dam with a small 80 000 m3 reservoir.

The overall cost of the project is estimated at $270-million and will be financed by the Burundi government and development partners.
