Investing in South Africa – Charting the Legal Landscape
Polity' Sane Dhlamini speaks to Webber Wentzel partner Haydn Davies about the law firm's book Investing in South Africa. (Camera & editing: Nicholas Boyd)
This year Webber Wentzel's signature publication, Investing in South Africa 2015, is titled: Charting the Legal Landscape. Directed at potential investors, it provides an overview of South Africa's legal environment.
The country also continues to be the most active African investor on the continent outside of its domestic market and is often used as a platform for growth into other parts of Africa. It is easy to see why South Africa’s economy is the biggest in Africa, with a GDP per head that is larger than China’s or India’s and more than four times the average in Africa. The country ranks second on the continent in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business measurement (2012) and local infrastructure and standards of living are by far the best in Africa. South Africa is also the only African country that is part of the G20 and a member of BRICS."
