Date: 2 – 5 November 2026

Location: Stellenbosch

The ECAT (International Symposium on Electrocatalysis) series is a prestigious global forum that brings together scientists, engineers, and researchers dedicated to advancing the science and technology of electrocatalysis, (photo)electrocatalysis, and related energy conversion processes. The first Symposium was held in Germany in 2010 and became a very successful biennial scientific event, with subsequent events held in Brazil (2012), Canada (2014), Japan (2016), Poland (2018), and again in Germany (2024).

Featuring renowned plenary and keynote speakers, oral and poster presentations, and excellent networking opportunities, ECAT offers a unique platform to exchange ideas, build collaborations, and drive innovation in clean energy and environmental technologies, set against the scenic backdrop of Stellenbosch’s wine country. The conference covers key topics in (photo)electrocatalysis, including theoretical and experimental studies on solar-driven conversion of H₂O, CO₂, N₂ and related molecules into chemicals and fuels; advanced (photo)electrodes for energy conversion and storage; integrated devices for (photo)electrocatalytic processes; specialized techniques and methods for investigations; inorganic, organic, and biological catalytic systems; and alkaline as well as acidic technologies.
