Tools specifically designed to make wood working projects easier and more precise, are now available locally.

Kreg has introduced six new tools – a cabinet door mounting jig, a 90° pocket-hole driver, Quick Flip tool, a shelf pin jig, drilling guides, and its custom-made shelf pins.

The cabinet door mounting jig is used in the installation of cabinet doors, whether with face frames or frameless. It is designed to work with both left-hand and right-hand doors. The jig features a support arm that helps the user to hold the door with one hand, while the other hand is free to mount the hinges to the cabinet. It also helps to position cabinet doors precisely, adjusting the support arm to one of the nine distinct positions to get the doors placed exactly where it is wanted. There is one setting for inset doors and eight more at 0.6 mm increments, so the user can support doors that overlay the cabinet face up to 5 cm. The cabinet door mounting jig comes with two micro-adjustment shims for even more fine-tuning. One shim can be used to move the door up by 0.15 mm or 0.31 mm, or both shims can be combined for 0.47 mm of adjustability.

The Kreg 90° pocket-hole driver is designed to turn a drill into a 90° driver. The compact drill attachment allows the user to drive screws into places that could not normally be reached with a drill. It includes a 3" square-drive bit with a magnetic tip that locks into the head of a pocket-hole screw, preventing screws from slipping out of place. The attachment can be used with all hex shank bits and is also impact-rated for use with an impact driver. The driver features an ergonomic design, making it easy to hold in place with one hand while controlling the drill with the other.

The quick-flip tool allows for the use of Kreg screws for a variety of strong, simple joints – with a single tool. For instance, a pilot hole and counterbore can be drilled using one side, and a Kreg screw can be driven with the #2 square-drive bit on the other side. The dual-action tool is designed to help the user to quickly make joints using Kreg screws in a range of applications.

Kreg screws are particularly suited for pocket-hole joints but their strength and high-quality engineering are said to make them ideal for other uses too. The quick-flip can be used with Kreg screws to face-join corners, attach false fronts to drawers, and a variety of other applications. It features a double-ended insert in a quick-release housing. On one end, a drill bit is sized to drill a pilot hole for a Kreg screw and includes a cutter that drills a flat-bottomed counterbore for a screw head to fit into, while the other end of the tool has a #2 square-drive bit specially designed for use with Kreg screws.

The Kreg drilling guide helps to create straight holes without using a drill press, allowing the user to achieve precisely positioned holes using only a hand drill. It features six hardened steel drill guides from 0.31 mm to 1.2 mm, and ergonomically designed Kreg GripMaxx material that helps to ensure that it stays in place. The drilling guide also automatically centers on the edge of 1.9-cm-wide and 1.2-cm-wide boards and plywood, so that holes can be drilled perpendicular to the edge and centered. It can be used for a variety of tasks such as creating a hole for driving a screw, mounting hardware, and helping create a dowel joint.

The Kreg shelf pin jig is designed to create perfectly spaced shelf pin holes. Hardened-steel drill guides help ensure precision for level, wobble-free shelves. It includes a 5 mm brad-point bit, is centered on standard 32 mm spacing and features a lifetime warranty. It allows six holes to be drilled  in one setup and a second shelf pin jig  can be connected to drill longer rows of holes with the same consistent spacing. The jig can also be used for installing concealed cabinet hinges and drawer slides in frameless cabinets. Molded-in alignment marks and an indicator window help align mounting screws for hinge plates and also helps to locate the front hole for drawer slide installation.

Custom-made 5 mm Kreg shelf pins can be used to add adjustable shelves and are compatible with the shelf pin jig and 5 mm drill bit. Each kit includes 20 shelf pins.

Kreg tools are distributed by Vermont Sales and are available at outlets countrywide.
