TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – In the run-up to the friendly C$3.9-billion buyout by white knights Yamana Gold and Agnico-Eagle Mines, Quebec-based Osisko Mining on Wednesday reported record daily output from its flagship Canadian Malartic mine, in Quebec.

The Montreal-based miner said that last Wednesday, the mine produced 2 718 oz of gold, which was a new record.

The mine, which is still ramping up output since declaring commercial production in May 2011, processed 51 601 t of ore, achieving recovery of 93.3% and a head grade of 1.76 g/t of gold.

Osisko shareholders will hold the annual and special meeting on May 30, in Montreal, when shareholders would vote to approve the plan of arrangement for the Yamana and Agnico-Eagle transaction.
