ASX-listed Image Resources said on Monday that it had started transporting heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) from the Atlas mineral sands project, north of Perth, to interim storage in Geraldton.

This is in preparation for the first HMC shipment that is scheduled for April.

Image said that the commissioning of the Atlas project, which began in early February, was progressing ahead of schedule and that, after only five weeks the operational team had experienced throughput rates of up to 80% of nameplate capacity and operating availability of up to 95%.

“Atlas commissioning is progressing at a remarkable rate, and by all measures, it appears we are experiencing a repeat performance of the stellar commissioning results achieve at Boonanarring, where nameplate capacity was achieved at the end of the second month of commissioning,” said MD and CEO Patrick Mutz.

Boonanarring was a high-grade, high-zircon mine development that was constructed on time and on budget in 2018.
