Name of the Project
Hywind Tampen floating offshore wind park.

Location
The project will be located in the Snorre and Gullfaks fields, in the Tampen area, in the northern North Sea, Norway.

Project Owner/s
Equinor.

Project Description
The Hywind Tampen project will be the first floating offshore wind project to supply renewable power for oil and gas installations.

The floating wind farm will comprise 11 wind turbines. The wind turbines will be connected in a loop by a 2.5-km-long, 66 kV dynamic interarray cable system.

The wind farm will have a total capacity of 88 MW, and is expected to cover about 35% of the yearly power needs on the Snorre A and B and Gullfaks A, B and C platforms.

The project will reduce emissions from the Gullfaks and Snorre fields by more than 200 000 t/y.

Potential Job Creation
Not stated.

Capital Expenditure
The preliminary capital and development expenditures for the project are estimated at about NKr5-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
The project is expected to come on line in 2022.

Latest Developments
Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Kværner apprentice Arne Linga started the cutting robot on the project's first sheet of steel on October 1. Kværner’s assignment will include building 11 floating concrete hulls for the turbines on Hywind Tampen.

The development of the Hywind Tampen project involves about 250 full-time equivalents for Kværner employees. Kværner's project will also generate an estimated 800 full-time equivalents in ripple effects for suppliers and the public sector, among others.

According to a study by Multiconsult, the Hywind Tampen project will create spinoff effects during the project’s life of 1 550 to 3 000 man-years for Norwegian trade and industry. Most of the spinoff effects will occur in the project’s development phase.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
Gulen Industrial Harbour (assembly site for the floating wind turbines) and Kværner (floating concrete hulls).
