Location
Lot N1 and LotN2 are between the Long Itchington Wood Green tunnel to the Delta junction/Birmingham spur and from the Delta Junction to the West Coast main line tie-in respectively.

Project Description
The HS2 high-speed railway is the biggest transport infrastructure project in the UK. Spanning an estimated 90 km, the delivery of Lot N1 and Lot N2 will include several engineering structures, tunnels and earthworks, including:
• 51 viaducts and boxes totalling over 14 km,
• 76 overbridges,
• 7.5km of twin tunnel,
• 35 cuttings reaching more than 30 km,
• 76 culverts and other underbridges,
• 66 embankments reaching more than 33 km, four motorway crossings requiring box structures, and
• six interfaces, with existing rail requiring dive-under and overbridge structures. Lots N1 and N2 comprise 1.8-million cubic metres of concrete and 32-million cubic metres of cut and landfill.
Potential Job Creation
At the peak of activity, the project is expected to employ about 10 000 people.
Capital Expenditure
The two lots are valued at about £5.75-billion. Planned Start/End Date Work is expected to start in mid-2020, with all the sanitary and safety rules according to the Covid-19 pandemic in place, and will last 74 months.
Latest Developments
The 50:50 joint venture between Balfour Beatty and VINCI was awarded the construction contract for HS2 lots N1 and N2 Phase 2 in April 2020. This follows two-and-half years of design.
