Project Description
The project involves the construction of the first offshore wind farm in the Round 3 Hornsea zone.

It covers 407 km2, located 103 km off the Yorkshire coast, with associated electrical transmission infrastructure to a grid connection point at North Killingholme, in North Lincolnshire.

Project One will comprise up to three offshore wind generating stations, with a total capacity of up to 1 200 MW and will include all associated offshore and onshore infrastructure.

There will be up to 332 turbines within Project One, with turbine capacities from 3.6 MW up to 8 MW being considered.

Latest Developments
The Planning Inspectorate has formally accepted the application for the Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm for examination.

A recommendation by the inspectorate and a decision by the Secretary of State for Energy is expected by the end of 2014.

Subject to any subsequent final investment decision, the project is then expected to progress to the construction phase.
