UK-based industrial accelerometers manufacturer Hansford has opened a new office and customer support centre in South Africa.

The company announced on Friday that the centre would form part of a group of wholly or partly owned subsidiaries in Poland, Australia, Germany and India, as well as a network of over 30 independent distributors worldwide.

The new company in South Africa was headed up by Brett Hutton, who had many years of experience working in a range of industrial sectors, particularly mining and quarrying.

“This is an important step in our programme of developing a strong network of local sales and customer support centres in key locations on each continent. Hutton will be responsible for working with our existing customers in South Africa and the surrounding region, and for developing new business via a growing network of sales partners in distribution and vibration analysis, as well as condition-monitoring services,” said company MD Chris Hansford.

Hansford Sensors manufactures an “extensive range” of industrial accelerometers, including 4-20mA transmitters, AC vibration and velocity sensors, switches and switch modules, enclosures, connectors and cables.

Many of these are engineered to meet the needs of individual customers or specific applications, with all products being backed by comprehensive customer and technical support services.
