PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Mongolian government has formally commissioned ASX-listed Guildford Coal’s Baruun Noyon Uul (BNU) mine, allowing for operations and sales to start.

MD Peter Kane said that this was a significant development milestone and enabled the BNU mine to extract coal in readiness for first sale.

“We now await final permitting of the coal transport company that will deliver first sales from the mine to the coal distribution hub at Ceke, on the China border,” Kane said.

Previously known as the North pit, BNU forms part of Guildford’s South Gobi project, and has a coal resource of 70.4-million tonnes, which includes an indicated resource of 39.7-million tonnes.
