ASX-listed lithium explorer Galan Lithium recently completed its first exploration sampling and mapping work at the Greenbushes South project, about 200 km south of Perth, indicating a major geological structure hosting pegmatite.

The new data, combined with historic data, points to the Donnybrook Bridgestone shear zone (DBSZ) and its associated geochemical footprint continuing along strike from the Greenbushes deposit and into the project area.

In addition, 25 soil samples and 15 rock chips were taken perpendicular to strike of the DBSZ, with assays indicating arsenic concentrations up to 574 parts per million (ppm), up to 16 ppm antimony and up to 12 ppm of tin.

Additional samples from previously mapped pegmatite outcrops showed concentrations of up to 27 ppm of tin.

In a statement, Galan reports that these initial samples serve as a positive sign for future targeted soil and geophysical surveys along the DBSZ to help identify potential blind pegmatite bodies.

As such, the explorer says plans are under way for further soil and rock chip sampling.

The joint venture project, 80%-owned by Galan and 20%-owned by Lithium Australia, presents a well-defined footprint of anomalous concentrations of pathfinder elements surrounding the Greenbushes mine and along its host structure.
