Following a “detailed and rigorous” selection process, assurance, tax, outsourcing and advisory firm Grant Thornton Johannesburg has made acting CEO Paul Badrick’s role permanent, effective July 1.

Badrick, who assumed the acting CEO position in February, would be responsible for overseeing all leadership and management structures, including the implementation and execution of the company’s new global strategy – ‘Growing Together 2020’.

“He will be supported by his executive team in the implementation of the day-to-day management of the firm, particularly focusing on its clients and its people,” said Grant Thornton Johannesburg deputy CEO Gillian Saunders.

Badrick was previously chairperson of Grant Thornton Johannesburg’s group governance board, which oversees governance, partner rights and affairs within the firm.

“I am honoured to have been appointed to this position and I look forward to working with my colleagues in Johannesburg and throughout South Africa to achieve our 2020 ambitions of unlocking potential for growth in our people, our clients and our communities,” Badrick commented.
