Golden Predator finalising Phase 1 restart study for Brewery Creek
TSX-V-listed Golden Predator Mining expects to share further details of its Brewery Creek restart study Phase 1 during the third quarter of the year.
The company will also provide a new mineral resource estimate, which will supersede the resource estimate published in November last year.
The Phase 1 restart study considers the feasibility of reprocessing leach pad material as the initial phase of restarting the past-producing Brewery Creek mine, in Canada’s Yukon region.
The study includes detailed heap inventory, reprocessing design, plan and operational schedule, operating cost estimates, site layout, capital cost estimates and an economic model.
The soon-to-be-released updated study will include a project implementation schedule, sourcing needs and an economic cash flow model that will be sufficiently detailed to move directly into procurement, development and construction.
The company’s production decision is dependent on the outcome of a study demonstrating positive technical and economic viability.
A Phase 2 study is planned to include the feasibility of mining operations in permitted pit areas, with current resources, to further enhance project longevity and economics.
“Our timing is ideal as gold prices remain strong, resource potential continues to expand and we have the ability to provide positive impacts on much-needed employment, business development and resource revenue to the Canadian, Yukon and First Nation governments in a rural community with a long standing history in the gold mining industry,” says CEO Janet Lee-Sheriff.
The Brewery Creek mine is a licensed brownfield heap leach gold mine that was operated by Viceroy Minerals up to 2002. It was put into temporary closure in 2002 following a collapse in the gold price to below $300 per troy ounce.
Golden Predator started work on the project in 2009, with the mine already being authorised to restart mining activities.
The company says existing infrastructure will allow for a quick restart schedule.
