JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed West Africa-focused gold explorer African Mining and Exploration completed a resource definition-drilling programme at its 207 km2 Kossanto gold project, in western Mali.

The company aimed to delineate a maiden Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource at the tenement in the first half of this year.

It further reported that all its operations in Mali continued without interruption, following some political unrest in the country last year.

The reverse circulation (RC) drilling programme focused primarily on the Gourbassi East target, where high-grade intercepts and a mineralised structure of 900 m strike length had been identified.

The programme also drill-tested the Gourbassi West target, with the intention of completing additional exploration work over the Massakama target area to further define the prospectivity of Kossanto.

“We look forward to updating the market on the results of our RC drilling programme in due course,” African Mining CEO Mark Jones said on Friday.
