The project entails the construction of a new terminal at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), in Accra, and the rehabilitation of other airports managed by GACL including Kumasi, Tamale, Ho and Wa airports.

The KIA has a five-million-passenger-a-year capacity, with an expansion potential to 6.5-million passengers a year.

The project involves the construction of a new 44 983 m2 terminal designed for international traffic. The terminal will have six contact stands for Code E aircraft – five levels in the main terminal building and a CIP Terminal.

The departure level will include 56 check-in desks in a 25 m clear span space, 30 passport control counters, including four e-gates, and eight security lanes.

The arrival level will offer 28 immigration counters, four e-gates and four reclaim devices.

Not stated; however, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a $120-million corporate loan to support the investment programme.

The total loan facility for the programme is $400-million, to be financed with corporate loans from the AfDB, other development financial institutions and commercial banks.
